How to Easily Create a WordPress Multi-Step Popups

A multi-step popup is one of the most effective ways to boost conversions.
By creating 2-3 steps popup campaign, you can engage with visitors a little longer. I personally don’t like any type of popup campaign. When it shows up on my screen, I hit the X button. I don’t read it, just hit the X button.
However, I sometimes read a multi-step popup campaign. Why? Because it catches my eye!
Most of the multi-step popups I see on the internet are Yes or No question. I often read the question before hit the X button. Asking a question is a clever way to get people’s attention.
In this article, you’ll learn how to create a multi-step popup that will boost conversions.

First of all, what is a multi-step popup?
Have you ever seen a popup that prompts you to sign up for the newsletter when you browse online shops? Usually, the pop up says “sign up for our newsletter to get 25% off for your first purchase” or something like that.
These popups are very common in the eCommerce business, but you can add a little twist by using multi-step popups.
Here is some example of the multi-step popup:

A psychological phenomenon called the Zeigarnik effect proves that people are more likely to finish the process once they started. So, once people clicked Yes/No multi-step popup like an example, most people tend to give you their email address to finish the process.

Let’s create a popup with Yes/No just like an example above.
Step1: Click the green button upper right corner, “Create New Campaign.“

Step 2: Select “Popup.”

Step 3: Choose templates that fit your design needs. In this tutorial, we will be using the template called “Boost.“

Step 4: Name your campaign and select which website you’d like it to load on. Then, click “Start Building.”

Step 5: Once you clicked the Yes/No tab on the top, you’ll see the green button says “Enable Yes/No for This Campaign.” Click it.

Step 6: Now, all you need to do is make some design changes by clicking on the element. For example, if you want to change some text, click the text part on preview page. We selected the Yes/No campaign, so the text needs to be some kind of question.

Step 7: Edit Yes button. You can add a specific call to action text in the text field. After the edited Yes button, go under the button alignment section and click “Action.” Then make sure your “Go to” pull-down selected “The Opt-in view.” This means successful submission will bring your website visitor to opt-in view.

Step 8: You also need to add the No button. Same as the Yes button, add a specific call to action text in the text field and setup action.

Step 9: Next, Toggle where it says swap buttons. This is important step. Do not skip (:

Step 10: Now, go to “Display Rule.” On this page, we will decide when and where this popup will show on your website.

Step 11: After you set up the display rule, click “Integrations” and connect your email marketing services.

Step 12: Final step! Go to the “Publish” tab and change the “Paused” status to “Live.” And click “Save.” That’s all.
